  1. Liberal Party are supposed to be a Canadian derivative of UK's Labour Party, just as the Conservative Party is a derivative of UK's Conservative Party. But the Liberals are Labour minus the labourers. They seem to have left the blue-collar working class people behind, and ditched them for a more globalist cosmopolitan woke hipster ideology.

  5. ​ @Teresa Benson - yes, so Trump's rise has echoes of the Reagan revolution, in which the working class swung away from the Democrats to the Republicans under Reagan. I'm not sure Canada had its counterpart to that in the 80s, since Canada's Mulroney wasn't really a convincing peer to Reagan, and suffered decimating electoral losses at the end. I think a key difference is that Canada's rural population is much smaller and more sparse than America's.
