  2. Bet it would work in muddy, swampy areas too. And without all the fragility and maintenance required by treads. Does this type of vehicle have a name? This kind of vehicle might be good for amphibious landings, since it could move through water and then climb onto a beach pretty seamlessly.

  3. ​ @Art Stone - I also feel that the screw drive could also be useful for propelling tunnel-boring machines. Instead of only just having 2 screws on the bottom of the machine, there would also be 2 screws mounted on the roof as well, and another 2 screws on the sides too. The front of the vehicle would be a road-header, which would be gimbaled.
