What would happen if you used this tungsten carbide coating technology on drum brakes? We know that drum brakes wear out more slowly than disc brakes as it is, so wouldn't using the tungsten carbide coating with them give them even more life? And can this tungsten carbide coating only be applied through that supersonic combustion spray method? It can't be applied in any other way, like electroplating, or sputtering, or something? Is tungsten carbide the only material that can provide useful improvements over iron rotors?

@KnghtRemains I don't think these engines can just switch back and forth during operation. They are either built this way, or they're not.

You said a low-octane fuel is desirable -- what about Ethanol? Would that be okay, or would it be too low-octane?

@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 ethanol is too high octane? But it's pretty light, not like diesel. It's hard for me to believe that ethanol is too high octane when it's so light.
