@TeamTrumpUSA Thats very much the case when it comes to the US, which willingly demolished its Human oriented cities in favor of car dependent infrastructures, parking lots, ugly box skyscrapers, glorified village suburbia, and horribly restrictive "no freedom" zoning laws.

@vanyadolly Buildings like these in Europe would be repurposed into private schools for music or dance, art galleries, or museums.

It costs a lot to maintain brilliant looking buildings in Europe as well, but people do it regardless of the costs because of the historical importance of those buildings, they even restore buildings in bad conditions just so the structures are preserved for future posterity. The represent entire time periods, methods of construction, architectural styles and trends, the people who built them, etc. Basically time capsules for what once was and what will never be again.
