I was poor and scared growing up. My parents were the paycheck-to-paycheck type. I saved up so much of my low income that I'm now well off. This country is not one big lie. Stop making bad decisions. Stop smoking and drinking and having kids until you're finances are in order. I also see "broke" people with new cars and new iphones. Bad decisions will keep you broke.

@Bryan Smith Who TF says you have to stay in San Diego. There's your whole problem. You can't afford San Diego. Get out, then you can start saving money. Or you can stay there and be 1 paycheck away from homelessness. You control your destiny but you want to make bad choices.

Maxie EVERYWHERE should be affordable? NOPE, that's not ever going to be reality. You can ONLY worry about YOURSELF and your family. Again, poor people can't afford rich places like San Diego or Los Angeles for the most part. You can try to keep up, but it will lead you to the poor house. Don't try and keep up with the Joneses. I'm not broke, but do you think I should think I can live in Beverly Hills just because someone says "everywhere should be affordable"? Stop dreaming and live in reality.

I'm not trying to be rude, but why do poor people bring a child into their world if they're barely scraping by? Now the working class taxpayers have to give you money. Maybe we can't afford your child either.

I am friends with many homeless in my souther city. When winter comes I offer to buy them a one-way bus ticket to LA or SD. I tell them it's paradise and they will be given money also. Most of them take me up on the offer since it's getting cold here. I love the stupid liberal policies in Cali, it keep my town clean. I'll send you about 10 more soon. Enjoy.

@kellyallen8528 I worked two jobs for 30 years and saved every penny to get out of poverty. It does take hard work. Good on you for taking your nephew in as your own. If you claim your son then you could get a huge tax deduction and/or a big refund at the end of the year. Good luck and work hard, keep your head up and seek God. It will all get better.

@jasongates- Some places encourages homelessness. LA spends BILLION$ on homeless, but nothing changes. Those crooked democrats politicians pocket the money and don't seem to care about the homeless.
