The “food” sanctions have been introduced by the Russian government, not the West. EU excluded the food sanctions. “Russia banned wholesale imports of fresh EU food produce… after 2014”

5
these brands are only “famous”in either China or, now, Russia 😂
4
where is your “the west”? 😂
3
This is NOT a “mom and pop” store. Russel mentioned a local CHAIN. for pop and mom stores come to NYC.. plenty of them
3
wages in Russia are NOT the same as in the UK. Didn’t you know that? 😉
2
These are VERY old buildings, not of a good quality. People with good jobs, wages, prefer not to live in these apartments. Even in the Soviet times, 80s, people will try to move out to newer places.
2
Reasonable prices? 😂 Really? more $100k for a brand new BMW X5?
2
2
Exactly.. not a supermarket but a place to grab food on your way home
2
@ interesting… Eggs in Europe are typically not refrigerated because most European countries do not wash their eggs before selling them, which preserves a natural protective coating called the cuticle on the shell that prevents bacteria from entering, making refrigeration unnecessary; instead, they often vaccinate their hens against salmonella to further reduce contamination risks
2
where do you live? Mars? The “interesting idea” of having Bistro inside the store has beef known for dozens and dozens of years😂
2
you feel hungry ar 2am and no food in your fridge? 😂
2
Russel, can you name food items SANCTIONED BY THE West? None!
2
Curious … the “world known brands”…what about warranties and “free repairs” if the product is still within the warranty?
2
2
where do you leave? 😂 they steal candies but not chocolate bars? Really?
2
2
you probably have been sleeping for the last three years. 😂 A few years the Russian Government put sanctions on some imported foods, like cheese, alcohol and so on. Again, not the western governments, but Kremlin itself. Also, Kremlin severely restricted the currency exchange and sanctions by the western banks.. no food sanctions in place
2
2
why is it so empty?
2
Let me understand … 1 liter of dairy milk is around $1. Correct? Whole foods (high end food supermarket) organic milk, roughly 1 liter, is about $2.50. If you shop in a typical supermarket like ShopRite, a 1liter bottle of milk (non organic) is under $2
2
@TravellingwithRussell the imported foods are getting into Russia by train, trucks, ships… like before..from Turkey, Kazachstan, China.. you name it. Probably, even directly from Europe
2
@TravellingwithRussell why? is Moscow colder than Toronto or Montreal? Do not think so.
2
Really, what countries? 🙄 Moldova? Travelled across multiple countries, shopped in multiple supermarkets and never saw anything different from what Russel presents here.
2
Really? 😂 where? alaska? Come to the Whole Foods: Organic Eggs, 12 eggs - $7.49 Do not thank me 😏
2
@ I know how much money I am spending on my groceries. Tell us more about “the egg shortage in USA” 😆
2
@ what “point”? What are talking about? Why do you think that the Russian people are less “consumers”? Switzerland and Norway are the most expensive countries because the locals buy more crap than in US or Germany? Seriously? 😆
1
@davidmarshall6616 the food “sanctions” have beeb introduced by … the Russian government even BEFORE 24_02_2022
1
1
Not even close. More like Aldi in the US - cheap and simple
1
@azmary1 Wow… how much the westerners make a month if they can waste thousands $$ a month and still be ok 😂😂
1
1
@kiyoshitakeda452 i do not understand the purpose of “conversion” Why? $1 in the US is not the same as in Afganistan…
1
@kiyoshitakeda452 where did you see the price for MB? i did not see any pricing. Russel explicitly said that no price tag attached to any car. My friend bought brand new BMW X5 in Moscow recently .. min 70% more than the same in the States. Plus, many software features are disconnected and the service takes longer should one has any warranty issues
1
@kiyoshitakeda452 for comparison Hyunday Solaris (Russia) = $22000. Hyunday Accent in the US (equivalent to Solaris)= $19000, MSRP, fully loaded
1
Whole Foods “Vital Farms” pasture free $8/dozen
1
hm..you live in NYC and have to drive 2-3 miles to get food? weird..
1
yep, my friend owns BMW X7 in Moscow. Many software features are disabled..
1
Eggs not in the fridge? 🫣 no wonder they are on sale … 😀
1
@ the whole time raw eggs in +20-22C environment? 🙄Wow
1
@use-16b-23z move to London or Manchester
1
@ i doubt that Walmart is truly 24/7. Who is going to keep the megastore open for a couple of night owls? Your story is about a mini market in Moscow, the megacity. So, it should be compared to … let’s say .. New York City, the city that never sleeps. There, you will find truly 24/7 food mini markets, cafes or dinners. We actually ate at the spacious dinner filled with people at 2 am, on the East Side,
1
1
poor you 😂… trust me, go to MB, ask for Maybach and you will be treated as the King
1
@TravellingwithRussell wait a minute… 😉 The government gives these apartments for free to EVERYBODY? Or you supposed to meet certain requirements?
1
Lata? Did you mean Tata? an indian car?
1
your wife did not tell you where the “plov” dish had come from? weird … плов=plov=pilaf
