yes agreed. However it may be noted that stockholm syndrome is an actual, real, diagnosable psychological condition. Therefore the prisoner or the kidnapp-ee becomes accustomed and attached to their abuser, and switches sides, and helps them, willingly. A terrible and unfortunate reality of human evil against each other all throughout time and history, it seems.

I dunno if Mr. THG put up that lightning bolt neon light specifically for this video, as it is a symbol for electricity and electronic radio transmissions also. But this is the first time I have ever noticed it on the wall behind! How cool. Nice touch!

10:00; what are those cool ocillating geometric animations? Is it that scale thing he mentioned? They tripped me out a little bit!

@dugroz well History Guy does pretty good research sooooo… yah. Smoked. I bet they did steam a bit in hot sun though, too!😅 But yah they smoked meat back then to preserve it and make it last longer. Canning for preservation on a mass production scale was only barely invented at that time, if I am remembering correctly.

i for one never had a mullet and was young enough to grow up hating them when they were ‘going out of style’ but also simultaneously old enough to have had childhood friends who had them. Hahaha but I am glad that the “zoomers” are bringing them back!😅
2
that is a cool story! I voted volcano, as there have also been dark days caused by ash plumes in history. But it was a massive forest fire!

had no idea the “American” mafia was already that active back then but I guess it makes sense, much less New Orleans? wow. very interesting!

i have always been fascinated by the fact that some, not all but definitely some of the colonists were not able to survive the winters or to be resourceful enough to continue fishing during the winter. It seems so obvious but for whatever reason… sometimes those colonists like, I dunno… didn’t see the obvious way to survive on a coastal place in a harsh winter?

my momma used to feed me a grapefruit for breakfast every saturday in the 1990s. it was a treat because she poured a spoonful of brown sugar onto the cut in half fruit and loosened it from the rind with a knife so i could scoop it out with my spoon. it was like breakfast dessert candy!😅 i eat grapefruit without extra sugar now but occasionally i will still pour a spoon of brown sugar onto it. Awwww the memories.

oh cool. yah i googled the three leggers and supposedly they’re worth like $500 in 2021 USD money. Not bad for a collection!
2
@TheHistoryGuyChannel very cool!

I also want to know what an 1880’s style bandit flag in New Orleans looked like.

i am a bit of a pointless conspiracy theorist and I did not know there was a “mob museum” or that it was in Las Vegas and that just seems really ironic and funny to me? It’s like hmmmmmmmm I wonder who the financial backers of the mob museum could possible be, in Las Vegas? Oh they certainly tell all the old mob history stories totally truthfully eh? yah, I’ll bet so.😅 lol but then again, I have no idea, I have never been there, and I bet it’s fun museum to go to and read the stories, regardless of errr.... uhhh.... who owns or financially backs the so-called “mob museum”.

5:25; “mitigates” (noun) or “mitigants” (noun); this word has plagued my speech for years! I have settled on either/or, however. lol that was super obscure I bet very few even caught how he said it.

october blizzard in Minnesota is maybe not equivalent to but certainly similar or comparable to our Valentine’s Freeze/Winter Storm Uri that messed up Texas real bad, recently. The forecast called for a freeze but lots of Texans and definitely the power generation managers of Texas mucked around and dragged their feet and paid for it with disaster.

absolutely!

8:28; yep, lol, a long and storied history of the Chinese not apologizing for anything, regardless of anything. Ahh yes, such is life. And we move on down the road....

11:40; oh oh oh I found a few of those buffalo nickels in my cashier box at the grocery I worked at one time and knew instantly I should keep them as soon as I saw the year 1930- whatever or whatever it was stamped on it. I could not believe my eyes! How you not gonna notice that you’re paying with a collectable coin?! Dah well I guess that’s how most people are anyways. So I changed them out with permission of my manager for other money I had. Alas! Come to find out, while still collectable, they were not the super-duper collectable mis-stamped “three legged buffalo nickel” that the super knowledgeable coin collectors know about. I still kept em!

i cannot find the link to the survey in the description? Did he perchance take it off if he got enough answers to it? The video show 4 weeks old as I type this, in 2023. Anyways, yep, I’d be interested in doing a history tour with The History Guy!

have heard of Mackenzie River but never knew anything about this guy. Not taught in my high school history classes that is for sure. Sorta sad that they don’t teach it but also sorta understandable considering how much great history their is to learn. And in my American school well, all schools unfortunately have to pick and choose what curriculums to teach unfortunately can’t learn it all. Which is why, follow the principle of lifelong learning!

side note i dunno much about this time and place in history but it sorta sounds like a whole lot was going on just besides the reformation. And that maybe some people used the reformation as an excuse to do some things against evil nobles who done tooken their lands
