  2. i think they did know the circumference of the earth though? was it Copernicus or Keppler that calculated the circumference of the earth around that time? one of those guys

  3. like when Thor Heyerdahl the archaeologist proved he could sail across the Pacific on a balsa wood raft, proving how the Polynesians could have done it and made it from the Micronesians to Easter Island to Chile South America and Peru, although I think maybe they had more than just balsa rafts

  4. if the earth is an oblate spheroid, how was Columbus wrong about thinking the earth was egg shaped? turn an egg on its side right? although suppose eggs do not have regular proportions as an oblate spheroid does so, um, ok.
