k wait wait wait if some priest or conquistador made them tell them and then they wrote it down in Spanish language codexes, before murdering those people, then those codexes should still exist? and, should be able to somehow be compared back to existing kipu? to crack the code? have the epigraphers not tried that exact method? with no success?

me neither but in recent years he’s been making internet appearances more and more. First time i ever saw him was on a Wired video about how he discovered one of the lost Maya cities with some of his colleagues way back in the 1990s when he was a young post grad student or… something like that

it’s not unpopular at all your culture has billions more people than ours😂 main difference in my opinion is just overall broad differences in eastern and western cultures. Our anthropologists and philologists are way more interested in decoding stuff in the western hemisphere because our history is directly connected to the age of exploration and the age of conquistadors. Which is interesting because the Portuguese went to India before they went to the New World. So, yes, I do in fact agree that the interest ought to be proportional but, the conquistadors had more success in the New World than the Portuguese had in India. Woops I guess I forgot the British East India company. Nevermind. Scratch all that.

yes why aren’t Indian archaeologists and anthropologists more interest in Mayan script than Sanskrit scripts?
