i’m not a pilot but all the comments in this whole comment section obfuscating ultimate and final responsibility from the pilot are breathtaking and also hilarious but i won’t laugh because it’s too soon. People really are trying to defend the pilot from the pilot’s own error in these comments. Incredible. And that is not actually to say that the company’s lighting it or the FAA aren’t in on responsibility too. Nevertheless as others have pretty indisputably pointed out, those towers are in all sorts of air navigation charts so even if the lights were out the pilot would be able know that the tower was still there and avoid death.
