@HeyGrouch no, not at all. Jesus said that to his disciples at that particular moment. Jesus goes on to say, in what Christians know as, “The Great Commission”, to make disciples of all the world then he ascended into heaven at the end of the gospels and at the beginning of the book of Acts. You do not even need to be a Christian to understand that it was not a contradiction in any way for those disciples to write about Jesus. Considering that Jesus told them not to tell at that particular moment to protect himself and for whatever other reasons, saying that, it is not yet my appointed time. All along all throughout the gospels, he is also preaching to people to spread the good news of the salvation of the Messiah. So while many unbelievers say it a contradiction or something silly like that, it is also true that it is very common human idea to ask someone to hold a secret until the “reveal” time comes. So that’s more or less what Jesus was doing.

one of my questions is: have all 100k pages of the Daozang been translated into English? I mean… I’m not going to read any of it. or maybe a little bit. But just wondering out of morbid curiosity.

i think it’s more a Greek concept than a Christian concept. the word canon is a Greek word, as he explained. We know that historically, Greeks were writing books and had canons of books before the rise of Christianity. Because early Christianity had a major presence in the Roman empire which was heavily, heavily influence by Greek Hellenistic culture, Christians easily adopted the concept of a canon into the religion. But again the Greek word, canon, existed for Greek culture before Christianity came about in the world. So, you are incorrect. But it’s ok!!!
