Which is why I'm glad the FM radio in my phone is functional and not locked out by a carrier.

@alexhajnal107 Another commenter says it's just a modem repeatedly trying to start a handshake.

Downward inflection was actually somewhat common on more advanced voice announcement systems of the time, such as Bell's AIS. I doubt MIDI would have been used, though.

Even if the site was unrestricted, he generally refuses to use images he didn't take himself. All I would hope for is that the antenna being featured is similar to the one that would have been used.

2 at best. 1 would be an active nuclear exchange or a full-scale invasion of US soil.

Replying to get notified when there's an answer.

@Most_Trustworthy_Weasel Dumping toxic waste into waterways is not legal in the US. Whether you get caught is dependent on your local DNR or the EPA.

In the US, broadcast radio and TV are the primary, and for the most part only means of delivering emergency messages. Smart TVs and other streaming media devices do not currently offer this capability, nor is there even an IP-facing API (that I know of) to look for alerts. So, there is no excuse to not have a battery powered radio with some means of power generation.

The rural university in my area also has an FM station.

So does the FD.

@tedlahm5740 This is more related to modern interior styles, rather than the means of getting power to the wheels. Adding an AM radio is extra cost and complexity for a seldom used feature, as most people will be using IP, FM, or an external source.

@12voltvids What model and year was it? Teslas tend to change a lot.

As someone who has never transmitted with more than about 0.2 watts, 200 watts seems like a lot. Is it not potentially deadly to be near such an antenna while it's radiating?

@stargazer7644 Shouldn't this signal be behind a lot of shielding?

But why transmit a buzzer, rather than use a passive GPS receiver that can be a hundred times more precise?

@idothings6685 As Supreme Commander of the M-Steel Corp, I can tell you with confidence that no real officer or C-level would openly state what their organization's plans are.

My school tried to do this once in the late 2010s, but they made the DMX lighting system freak out whenever they transmitted. Turns out the builders installed hardline comms for a reason.

Could be cell antennas.

Not until we have a common protocol for communication between automated vehicles and traffic control systems. To anyone in a position of power who reads this: even though automated vehicles are currently uncommon, we need this system NOW, not 5 years after they become standard.

The Woodpecker was a radar, not a channel marker.
