@tedmoss Faster ≠ better, and humans are still a lot smarter, and a lot better at identifying what they see.

@rookievideos8865 Soon, we will see TSA checkpoints at state borders, with an increasingly strict list of contraband (such as cash or precious metals in any amount), as well as inspection of digital media. This is going to suck for Rhode Island and Delaware.

The carrier for my backup device even has the balls to have an app with the specific, clearly defined purpose of spying on the user and sending whatever data it wants. Which data specifically? Nobody knows, because the page for their privacy policy is blank.

@EverythingCameFromNothing The system cannot alert you if it does not know that it is doing something wrong.

@Dogo.R > EUCs are way safer than cars Except when they're so poorly made that they're a ticking battery fire ready to burn down your apartment building.

Maybe we need to add green lights to self driving cars.

@stewartleslie3292 Originally written in FORTRAN for a PDP, running in DOS compatibility mode under Win95.

Trying to abolish something deemed "International Security" is like trying to level a mountain range.

The solution to this would have some system to select what accessories should be included in the box, such as chargers or fancy headphones.

@StevenOBrien Indeed. An aircraft autopilot is just half a dozen control loops that simply do what they're told. A car autopilot not only has to be aware of its surroundings, but also must control based on many thousands of factors.

Prediction for Model Z: Built like an ATM, has to be towed to the dealership if tampered with in any way, contract required to purchase it that says car is sole property of Tesla and they can do whatever they want with zero notice or consent.

@Operational117 From what I've seen, these are usually blowers and not pumps. Pushes more air, but not much pressure.

While we all like seeing big corps get sued, there is another much more likely explanation: The Chinese worker making $0.50 an hour to apply the stickers has received zero training and does not know where to put it, so they select a screw at random.

@Shonicheck Or just implement the DRM into a normal PWM or VFD controller.
1
@greebj Based on what I've read, the old radar is pretty sucky, and while essential for traditional adaptive cruise control, the data isn't useful for FSD.

If they could just "disable" their problems, they would have done so a long time ago. Teaching a machine to drive is HARD, and the product is still very much in development.

@arthurpendragon8192 Bell System, 1985. They got broken up, and then all the pieces got gobbled up and destroyed. This is the result of antitrust litigation.

I'm going to guess that maintenance are not allowed to have access to the computer itself because that's IT's job, and IT can't access it because it's not supported and belongs to maintenance. OR management told both that they're not going to do anything about that.

@motorcitycandleworks It means that the printer thinks it's out of paper.

Also, the government has the goal of spending as much money as possible, and an obligation to spend at least their entire budget every year.

@herrschaftg35 Security is always improving over time. Old unsupported software doesn't have those improvements. If a vulnerability is discovered, and you don't update your system instantly, you're done. It is a proven fact that XP has close to zero security.

@Filthy Peasant Those parts might sell to the retro gaming community for a comically large amount of money.

Also, installing a custom OS on a phone is extremely uncommon, with the vast majority not knowing it even exists, and most of the rest not being interested or believing that it's impossible on newer phones.
1
Shouldn't the person fixing the landing lights and the person fixing the building be on completely separate teams, the former requiring extensive training and security clearances?
1
This is why I just charge my phone at 5V, 0.5 amps.
