@pepebeezon772 *Replaces speedometer with one that only goes to 70

Don't touch the yoke. The autopilot is on.

He also had to fly the aircraft without any functioning interior lights.

@jamespcurtiss Why is the police communication of such a large city not encrypted? Even the small rural PD where I live uses encryption.

@adrianpeters2413 Those are just additional systems that make the aircraft safer. An Airbus may become uncontrollable in the event of a computer or hydraulics failure.
2
Only if you want your aircraft to end up in the ground.
2
The paperwork. It's just more things that have to be maintained, tested, certified, and trained for. Some might even declare such an ability a safety hazard, as one might inadvertently adjust it and no longer be able to communicate with aircraft.
2
@autohans540 And stopping a train is easy, Just push the big red button!
2
Unfortunately, the fire can only go directly behind the aircraft.
1
Don't forget costs related to fuel being sprayed onto the ground.
1
second to solar octagonal runways
1
What about the thousands of miles of open ocean between them and the nearest land.
1
Wouldn't having a passenger in the flight deck be a severe threat to security?
1
Someone opened the cargo door.
1
The passenger side is behind the flight deck.
1
I thought it may have been a passenger door, or something being connected or disconnected from the aircraft.
1
It's not on the flight deck.
1
Are these hydraulic fuses able to be overridden by the flight crew? They seem like a point of failure.
1
And if the electrical systems fail?
1
@tomstravels520 I guess I should have specified electrical control systems. What happens when the computers that handle the flight controls break?
1
Not to fly it. Only to put up the sun visor.
1
Why is there not a small hydraulic pump attached to the APU to allow the aircraft to land properly in the event that multiple engines have failed?
1
@tommy_pickaxe5552 Are you referring to the RAT?
1
Eventually, the aircraft would run out of fuel and have to land with an unsecured object in the cabin.

There are also 3 sets of wires for each switch.

Steam would likely trigger a photoelectric cabin fire alarm.
1
What about distilled water? It's less conductive than coffee.
1
This could only be applied to military aircraft.
1
@antoinemifsud8781 Actually, that would make the job easy. You don't even have to cut the subject open.
1
It is also useful in the event that a light burns out or is crashed into by a lawnmower.
1
@mpk6664 Commuter trains do. Someone in the cab of an American locomotive is not going to be able to see directly in front of the locomotive.
1
@nadderragi4781 Not sure something going through a low-fidelity audio stream would be sufficient for the amount of data transmitted, and it might interfere with voice when it is needed the most. I'd consider also looking into other systems, like the satellite or cellular radios, which are already digital.
1
Probably some type of interlock override. The kind that lets you retract the landing gear before takeoff.
1
Even if he wanted to, flight school is very expensive, and that expense is absolutely not justified unless he is pursuing a career in aviation.
1
It might still be economical to have a low-geared motor on the nose gear to taxi the aircraft, powered by the APU. The only reason not to add it would be certification, and the fact that a failure of the gearbox to disengage would prevent the aircraft from taking off.
