  4. I'm sure a lot of this has to do with the dimmer. The dimmers I had would change their duty cycle based on small changes in line voltage or load, and at some points on their scale would start oscillating at a lower harmonic of the line frequency. I eventually ended up replacing them with smart PWM controllers running at 16kHz.

  9. The wiring in this panel is actually quite tidy for the US. There are some panels that look like spaghetti inside. There are also some very old electrical systems that are terrible.

Older turn signal switches are actually very complicated devices, especially once you add the headlight switch, hazard lights that need non-interruptable power, and trailer lights that are also used as brake lights. Source: Spent a few hours trying to reverse engineer the turn signal switch from a 99 Ford.

It's better to just buy a new one." I often end up pulling the things out of the garbage and fixing them in less than 10 minutes. It seems that most people are so scared of everything that they refuse to hear anything that suggests the thing isn't scary.

  44. Worn plugs aren't only found in hotels. I once had a power strip where a plug would just fall out, and running a load more than about 15 watts would cause excessive heating. As for the holes, I sometimes put wires through them so I can run a small vacuum cleaner off 2 laptop batteries. Also, 19:38.

This could easily change during an unusual event like a major conventional war.
