  1. While I understand your point, that scientific measurements must be done properly, for the purposes of this video I think the point is made: aerogel is a far better insulator than glass. This isn't a dissertation being handed in for a PhD. It's a YouTube video. I very highly doubt that if the glass dish were the same thickness that it wouldn't still be extremely hot (PLENTY hot enough to melt chocolate and FAR hotter than the aerogel of same thickness) after 6 minutes.

  6. Seems like they could: aero gel inside the inner and outer layer of a thermos cup. Lots of people pay a lot of money for badass coolers/thermoses (thermi?). YETI being a prime example. Although I don't know exactly how expensive enough aero gel to make a thermos would cost....I'd like to know though.
