@ModernKnight What do you mean by disagreeing with Thomas Tammaro about what YOU would want? He's an internet hero just setting you straight on how dumb YOU are and how smart HE is. He knows what's best for you!

Agreed. There are whole grain breads and oat breads that I like, which I try to eat more than white bread because from what I understand, white breads are stripped of almost all nutrients...but brown bread is usually dry, dense, crumbly and mealy.

Honest question here: canned/dried fruits or vegetables won't work? Or a ration pack that maybe contains nutritional supplements (vitamins) added to the food?

@Consciousnesstransformation An honest question again: how are canned vegetables ant different from cooked fresh vegetables? I know for a fact you can live quite well and healthily without eating raw vegetables.

@Consciousnesstransformation I'm not saying canned food is BETTER. I just have a difficult time believing you'll actually get disease while eating canned vegetables/fruits. I don't think the consequences are THAT severe. Of course fresh fruits and vegetables are better than canned.

@Consciousnesstransformation Not all together true. Entire armies, the best ones on Earth, live on canned/frozen/dried foods.

@Consciousnesstransformation Hmmm...I'll have to look into that. If true, good thing I grew up with and still have (in spring and summer) a vegetable garden!

Peasants ate very pleasant pheasants.

Crawfish and shrimp were the same. Buy some live crawfish or shrimp caught that same day now...see how much that'll run you. Weird how that works. Just goes to show what's "important" (to a lot of people) is keeping up with the Joneses...not necessarily what's ACTUALLY important.

@harveyknguyen I have a difficult time believing that seafood would last for weeks before refrigeration as it won't be edible after weeks WITH refrigeration. Where did you get this info? Also we aren't talking about prisons. We are just talking about the market value of certain foods at certain periods in time. What prisoners were served has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

Wait a minute....I thought medieval Europeans were black?

That's actually pretty cool but somehow I don't think that would work these days. Let's say the IRS said you didn't pay your taxes and you said "Yes I did! Here's my half of the tally stick proving it! Get your half!", the IRS could just say "What stick? We never got any stick."
