@anythinggoes4588 I would also like to point out that the slaves of West Africa being shipped to the Americas were already in a jail cell at the coast (called a barracoon) to be sold. Guess who enslaved them? That's right: other Africans. Also free blacks in the Southern US owned a disproportionate number of other African Americans than did whites. You think every free black was working for the Underground Railroad? Oh but those people were an EXCEPTION right? They were just Uncle Toms...not REAL blacks. Right? Don't make me laugh. This is all factual information that even educated blacks agree with instead of going on some ramble about paranoid conspiracies that it's all lies being pushed by white elitists and blah blah blah whatever else you're saying. That being said, I'm not justifying slavery. I'm just stating facts that you ignore so you can point the finger 100% at someone else and have a reason to be angry and demand free shit. And then you wonder why whites (and every other race in America which covers just about EVERYONE) look at you the way we do. This is 2018 and you have EVERY opportunity that anyone else has, if not more. I can sit around and cry and whine too that "my ancestors were mistreated 400 years ago! 😭😭😭" as my grandmother was born and raised on a Native American reservation. You think what was done there was fair? No. But nothing I can do about it or anyone else because it's in the past so instead of robbing convenient stores at gunpoint and burning down my own neighborhood when the police shoot me for doing said robbery, I think I'll just get a job and act like a civilized human.

@Planet Watcher I will completely listen to any actual evidence you can show (I'm assuming you know what evidence does and does not include as you sound intelligent enough) that the (original) moon landing was faked.

@gergister I was about to say the same things about carbon based life forms and needing at least SOME water (a LONG TIME without water is not the same as AN ENTIRE LIFETIME without water)....I think you explained it a lot better than I would've though. 😎 👍 As you said, chemistry is chemistry is chemistry and works the same way no matter where you are. The odds are MUCH higher that other life would also need carbon and water. I suppose it's POSSIBLE there could be something else but at that point you aren't really even using any scientific method anymore to look for extra terrestrial life. You're just guessing....and spending billions of dollars to investigate a planet where the odds are extremely lower that life would arise.

Exactly. As far as evolution is concerned, having a large brain capable of having more complex thought isn't necessarily a desirable trait. As a matter of fact it could be a hindrance as it takes a LOT of energy to power such a large brain.

Yeah. We should just throw our hands in the air, totally hang up any and all scientific study and advancement (because so far it's obviously done absolutely nothing to enrich our lives or make life easier or more entertaining/fun) and just chalk everything up to God. I mean everything was wonderful with God alone but before science wasn't it?

While that is true, if life arises in other places it's just as possible that it arose as long ago as the star is far away. Example: it's just as possible for life/a civilization to have arisen 10,000 years ago in a solar system that is 10,000 light years away. Meaning if they also used radio waves (or some form of waves) as communication (the fact that technology builds on itself almost guarantees that at some point an intelligent civilization would do this) as a form of communication, those signals would be getting here right now. So we'd be able to detect them. The same would be true of any star. However, to respond and have them get it would take another 10,000 years by which that time they may no longer be using radio waves, may have died, or who knows..maybe still be there and respond back....which would take another 10,000 years....20,000 years from now. Point being, it all depends on how far away said star/planet is and how long ago their civilization sent a signal.

And the furthest away we can see is 13.8 billion light years away. Meaning it took that light 13.8 billion years to get here. It must have originated to have been traveling anywhere.

Look for "Georgi Bonev's" response to "Lunch's" comment. He explains it better than I can but basically: because of chemistry. Chemistry works the same way no matter where you are in the universe. Carbon (based life, like us) bonds MUCH more easily with itself and other elements providing WAAAYYY more combinations for molecules which in turn make different molecular chains. Water is the best solvent there is in order to provide a solvent for these chemical reactions to take place. That being said, water must be in liquid form in order to dissolve anything so the environment must be warm enough that water doesn't freeze and cool enough that it doesn't boil. All the above being said, it's exponentially more likely that life would be carbon-based and need water. I suppose there's a POSSIBILITY life could utilize other elements however the odds would be EXTREMELY lower and when it takes decades and billions of dollars to send a probe just in your own solar system, you don't have time or money to waste looking around at one of the trillions of planets where the odds of life arising is extremely low, taking into account what we know about chemistry. Edit: and not to be a smart ass (I mean this in all seriousness) but there is life that breathes CO2. They're called plants.

Depends on where you are standing. On the moon we definitely were. A probe sent from us on Mars (or any other celestial body) is an alien probe.
