  3. You wouldn't buy some beef cattle just to beat, whip and injure them because they are expensive (and most people just don't want to do that). Slaves were even more expensive. Nobody except for some very rare (even more rare than slave owners themselves) sadistic jerks wanted their slaves sick or injured and unable to work. Speaking of comparing slaves to farm animals, when blcks say they "built America", they are partially correct. They "built America in the same way that mules "built America".
