Like Washington or not, he did found the country that today is the greatest country on Earth where literally ANYONE has the opportunity to accomplish anything they want...if you put in the work and stop pretending to be a victim. Don't like America? You're also free in America to leave and go live elsewhere where you have better opportunities. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find this other place though.

They are saying it to people who are complaining about something that's been long dead as if it's somehow holding them back from attaining anything they want to do today because America is such a terribly dangerous and oppressive place to live. So I agree: if you (by "you" I mean anyone) think America is so terrible and oppressive, there are 194 other countries to choose from. You are not a slave and are free to leave and go where you'll be happy. Guaranteed, lots of people would even be willing to set up a fund to get you there. We don't need to hear every 5 minutes about slavery and how bad it was. We already know. That's why a war was fought 155 years ago to end it, America being the first country to do so. I will agree however that just because you don't support the current President that you should be called Un-American or Un-Patriotic. It is however just as bad to baselessly call him a racist constantly as well. 1990's Jesse Jackson would disagree with that.

  11.  @logan2113  Furthermore, difficult immigration, family and work don't stop people who are ACTUALLY oppressed from emigrating TO the U.S. What makes it so much more difficult for people FROM the U.S. if they're being treated so badly? Are you telling me that U.S. citizens are SO OPPRESSED that they can't even accomplish what poverty-stricken, oppressed people from war-torn 3rd world countries can accomplish?
