@SolitarySpartan I used to moderate forums back in the days and I was working full time + studying for some of that period. Moderating a community is the same as being part of it, you don't spend any more time than regular users do. The only difference between you as a mod and a regular user is both should keep shit civil and rules abiding but one has the tool to enforce it if needed. It's kind of like twitch mods, they'll watch the stream whether they timeout and ban people or not so why not help while they are here? That way they can keep the chat fun and respectful for everyone, including for themselves. Just because they become a mod doesn't suddenly mean they have to spend more time watching or be there for the full streams everyday. It just means when they are here they'll have the tools to keep everything on track if shit goes south (spams, nsfw ascii, insults, arguments between chatters, etc.) and enjoy the rest of the stream like any other chatter would. The bottom line is any regular user spends just as much time in these communities and also doesn't get paid for it.
