Not even kidding that's how I was able to get my first setup as a kid, my mom worked at an energy company and the mother company operated the same way so the folks there would buy new equipment each year and everybody could keep the "old" (still in their packages) ones. I had a $2000 steelcase chair and 3 decent monitors for free, that's wild to think about looking back on it.
