  3.  @SenhorKoringa  It could help identifying who he is. Isn't that what they profiling ? If we understand why people do things, we can catch them before they do it. But yeah I don't think 6/10 is enough difference to mean anything either.

  5. The science behind profiling was not a thing back then, people didn't know it meant something. Not only that but investigators had different tools, there was no cellphone, no internet, no CCTV, nothing. Even fingerprints, shoes and wheels were not stored in a database, they were compared one by one by a random underpaid cop with a microscope and enough fatigue to be imprecise on top of that. All they could use to find the killer was the miraculous victims who would tell them how the events happened. Authorities were pretty much powerless, they only had their eyes to see the massacre continue. And this case isn't the only one. Murders that would be solved in less than a week now were just unsolved back then.
