@JSephH76 I don't think you're anti immigration, I said the AI craze is comparable to the anti immigration craze. AGIs aren't magic, it's not like when you train a model all of the sudden it has no cost to operate and you can replace workers with AGIs. And AGIs aren't even good enough to replace workers yet. A worker is more than its labour. Tech prices are on the rise, I don't know where you pulled those stats from. Constructors are boosting up their starting prices even if you take inflation in. Compare the starting prices of CPU, GPU, RAM and PSU over the years and see it for yourself.

@JSephH76 isn't this what you are talking about (Wikipedia): "Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is the ability of an intelligent agent to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human being can." That's what I'm talking about in my second reply.

@JSephH76 That's not even a true statement. The difference is "current jobs will go extinct" and "every pre-existing job will be replaced by an other". The issue is that those new jobs are unknown yet so we can't prepare for mass transition (education, integration to business routines, required profiles, etc...). Even worse, we can't tell kids what cursus they should aim for. That's why AI will never take over the way it could, the adoption will be slow at first and even after the transition will happen organically. These tinfoil hat meth heads are also under-estimating costs. We all know here how expensive it is to deploy, maintain and scale infrastructures. The only reason why ChatGPT can offer free beta at a loss is because Microsoft is pouring in hardcore cash. Operating AI-powered applications and services is going to be insanely expensive, much more than hiring cheap labour in the 3rd world. This whole AI craze is even more stupid that the immigration craze. Immigrants actually were qualified at the time yet nobody came for your job pal.

@kehan6252 Speculative markets. Meaning assets that don't have any value. Crypto is the most common. People buy crypto hoping to sell at an inflated price to the next idiot willing to buy in hope to sell to the next idiot, etc... Until there is no other idiot willing to buy. Now the last buyer is left with non valuable assets that he wasted his life savings on and has to hold the bag like the idiot he is. He's probably going to live in denial for most of his life thinking his crypto does have value but at one point he will come to the realization that it was a idiotic investment, because he is an idiot after all and doing idiotic things is what idiots do.
