Forgiving and forgetting are 2 different concepts. You definitely can't move on without forgiving but you definitely can move on without forgetting. In fact the opposite would be very toxic and lead to adopting coping mechanisms (alcohol being the most frequent, we all know the phrase "I drink to forget").

@googol990 Not really when the choice is made by the victim themselves without their former abuser interfering in the healing process. Forgiveness is one of the most powerful tool of mental health. Even outside of the scope of abuse.

@googol990 I have not told anyone to do anything, I simply stated that to forgive was different than to forget and that while one may be an important (if not mandatory) step of the healing process the other is extremely toxic. I didn't specify an order. There is no order anyway, it's all about learning and growing past your struggle. If you had understood my approach and still went around preaching that coping is better it's kind of a dogshit thing to do bro
