@Sporkmaker5150 Remember shoes made in the 1950s and 1970s used to need breaking in. They weren't comfortable on day one. That was the price of being made out of tough material. Over time they would adapt to the shape of your feet. In the 1980s shoes started being made of soft material so were comfortable immediately, but the material was soft and didn't last. My anecdote: I met an old guy who was in the British Army in the 1950s. When he joined he was issued with 3 pairs of socks. When he left they didn't want them back. More than 50 years later they were fine and he still wore them daily.
