  5. Yes, inflation can be hidden in subtle ways. Look for the same size bags to contain less and less. Look for shampoo to become more and more watery. Look for bread to be more air than bread. Eventually things sold as packs will be sold individually - like if you smoke you will buy each cigarette separately.

  9. No, inflation is a direct attack on the middle class. The poor have little to lose and their labor keeps its value. The rich borrow lots, buy inflation-proof assets and pay back less. The middle class have cash or near cash savings and will lose big time.

  10.  @dneal8293  I said "the poor have little to lose" and so are relatively unaffected by inflation. I didn't say it was good to be poor. The reason they don't lose out is because they don't have much to lose.
