  1. I have driven through a red light to let an ambulance through. Had I been charged with an offense I would have pleaded not guilty by reason of necessity. Just because the Highway Code or RTA don't allow it doesn't mean there are no legal avenues to avoid a fine.

  2. You should let emergency services through. At court (and it will never get that far) you would plead not guilty by reason of necessity or "duress of circumstance".
