I can't believe nearly 7 million French people voted for a communist. Have they been paying attention to communism and its effects on nation states in the last 100 years? Wtf is wrong with these people?

It is said true communism has never been realized. Marxist socialists have most certainly tried to realize it, and failed miserably in the process. The ideology has proven over and over again to be fundamentally flawed, yet people continue to have faith in its virtue and desire to apply it in their countries. Reminds me of "Einstein's" definition of insanity, despite it being grossly cliché.

Fillon is a POS. If he was truly a Eurosceptic and wanted France to remain a sovereign nation state, he wouldn't have sold out and supported Macron.

Melachon was/is a Socialist Party member that wanted to merge the SP with the French Communist Party. Now he is a member of the Left Party which is allied with the FCP and Die Linke, and made his own party recently, which is allied with all the above. He is for mass redistribution of wealth, labor rights, and welfare expansion according to his website. He is a Marxist/Leninist communist that is Eurosceptic. Somehow, I doubt that a Frexit or a halt on immigration will happen under him, let alone a stand against Islamization.

I think Le Pen is a stronger Eurosceptic than Melanchon by far. She might be walking back on this for campaign purposes, but she hates Merkel, the EU superstate, and the Schengen Zone. I didn't say he was a communist solely because FCP endorsed him, but clearly they wouldn't endorse someone that wasn't at least a socialist. He doesn't even need to have political affiliation with the FCP to follow Marxist ideology, and vice versa. He may not propose complete Marxism through his current party platform, because he cleverly softens it to make it more palatable to the voting public. Melanchon may be a political chameleon, but his roots are in Marxist/Leninist ideology, just like Bernie Sanders in the U.S. Perhaps communist (lite) would be a better term for him? I definitely wouldn't characterize FN's proposed economic platform as the same as Melanchon's. It would have some aspects of a welfare state but would be a mixed economic platform. She calls herself a protectionist, and definitely doesn't talk about "mass redistribution" of wealth.

Interesting. I would be lying to say I'm an expert in French politics, but here in the U.S., a guy who was a communist and then became a Socialist senator for 27 years and is in and out of bed with a Communist party throughout that time would likely be referred to as a far Left/Marxist pinko commie. I think that in Europe, the Overton window is so far to the Left, that openly Marxist politicians like Melanchon run and garner significant support under the banner of Leftist populism, while a fairly moderate politician like Le Pen with some hardline (and intelligent) immigration policies is labeled "far-right." She is certainly a France-first populist, and a patriot, but "far-right?" I don't think so. That's like saying Trump is "far-right."

Ludovic Tichit bullshit. Melanchon was a card carrying member of a communist party. As discussed before, that doesn't necessarily mean he holds or held a pure communist ideology, but it does at the very least allude to his sympathies, which combined with his rhetoric, is enough for me. Conversely, Le Pen has never belonged to any neo-Nazi group and cannot be construed as a Nazi by any reasonable person based on her sympathies or rhetoric. Melachon being characterized as a communist is reasonable, although it may not be a perfect description, based on his affiliations, sympathies and rhetoric. Le Pen being characterized as a Nazi is intentionally slanderous and malicious.

Wife, kids, multiple houses, a great job with benefits, a boat, two vehicles, a summer cabin in the mountains. My family is healthy and strong. We eat and drink like kings, and life is good. My original comment was that 7 million French ARE cucked for voting for Melanchon, a communist (lite). Add another 16.8 million that voted for Marcon and Fillon, and I suppose that means the vast majority of French voters are cucked. So yeah, France is pretty cucked. I'm glad you're voting for Le Pen, and although I think you're way too supportive of socialism, I appreciate the debate. Even when people resort to insulting me, I tend to learn something. Yes, I voted for Trump, but it didn't really matter that I did. I live in California, which always goes to the Leftists. Trump is not a savior, but yes I was very happy he won. If he does even half of what he promised in his campaign, I'll vote for him again in 2020. I would rather have a loudmouth asshole that the establishment mocks, than a slinky little center-leftist ex-(((banker))) like Marcon running the show.
