He deserves to be enshrined as a national hero and a statue of him erected at the Plaza de Armas in Santiago. He allowed free market and Chile prospered in the 80s. He also peacefully handed over power to a democratically elected centrist government and the economy continued to prosper. It only took Chile nine years after Pinochet stepped down and you idiots started electing socialists again. Your economy will soon fail again and inflation will skyrocket like it did under Allende. Then you'll need Pinochet 2.0 to save you again. History usually repeats itself, but in Latin America, history is certain to repeat itself.

  4. M. Simm Your socialist government will continue turning Chile into a multicultural Hell project and it'll be a one-party state in no time. Demographics are destiny. The U.S. has been severely inhibited by the detriments of mass immigration and multiculturalism. It is on the same path, but has more problems with minorities.

Chileans clearly didn't learn anything from Pinichet's rule or from the last 50 years of their country's history. Chileans thought they could make socialism work, but it is certain to fail unless there are closed borders, massive resources, and a sustainable and homogenous population.

  10. Kids can be victimized by anyone in a position of power, but priests are supposed to have unimpeachable character. That is why when they are caught abusing kids, it is doubly vile. I happen to think it's just as nauseating when a cop or a teacher or a Boy Scout leader or anyone else with power abuses kids. They all need to be executed.
