  2. Germans are like East Asians. They have a natural desire for order and structure. It is part of their racial ethos, and it is also demonstrable in their high average spatial intelligence, which the East Asians also possess. Germans generally gravitate towards things instead of people, especially the men, as men as naturally more inclining to this psychological tendency anyways. It is not a coincidence that they are some of the best engineers and manufacturers in the world. They are stubborn and obstinate, and demand perfection. They have a word "Ordnung" which is similar to the Chinese "Tao." It is their way of living and doing things. Their rules for life. It is also similar to the concept Dharma from the Vedic tradition.

  4. Indeed. Dharma is more often understood as a cosmic order as well, or the eternal law of nature. But it is also simply considered a "way of life" or a way of doing things. Shinto has kannagara, which guides the ethical dimension of Shinto. Śīla guides a Buddhist's behavioral ethics and lifestyle, and so on. My wife is German, so I have had a lot of time to observe the German people, their culture, and their tendencies as a people. They don't like problems or change. They need things to be to their satisfaction or they get upset. It is pretty annoying but you get used to it, and it really is a good way to live life. They take no shortcuts, but you are right. When reality can't be squared with their Ordnung, they somehow end up believing both and seeing no contradiction.
