They have nukes and their leader, as you said, is irrational. I don't see them as a joke, I see them as a menace.

I don't think this is all about the U.S. seeking resources, despite that historically and currently being a common interventionist motivation, I think it's slightly more nuanced. A reunification of Korea would completely change the geopolitical dynamic of that region, as the post-war economy would likely go berserk. Having another powerful ally and trade partner in that region would be extremely beneficial to the U.S. How much the Koreans will allow the U.S. to exploit them economically will depend on a number of factors.

"you people?" wtf are you even talking about? I'm anti-interventionist in a general sense, because it usually just makes things worse in the respective region and costs us money and lives. That being said, if any conflict is worth fighting at this time it is with North Korea, because a Korean conflict would likely end with an eventual positive outcome. The Juche regime is a menace to that entire region and the world as a whole and its removal would benefit everyone, as they routinely threaten to use nuclear weapons on even non-nucleur states. However, this is different than a typical regime change in that North Korea would be annexed and reunified with South Korea (and the Chinese would likely use the opportunity for a land grab of the far north). The stalemate has to end someday. They have been at war with us and South Korea since the ceasefire, and continue to militarize in preparation for the inevitable. Now that China is cooperating instead of sending in Chinese nationals to fight for the DPRK as they did in the Korean War, the ideal opportunity has presented itself.

That is true. Although saying Sung was tolerable is only acceptable when comparing him to his deranged offspring successors. He is the original "Great Leader." He masterminded the whole cult of personality surrounding the Kim family.

Point taken. Trump reacted irrationally when striking Assad. However, does that refute my claim that the DPRK is a menace? Is the American government under Trump going around threatening preemptive nuclear strikes on non-nuclear states? The DPRK has economically, militarily, and politically invested in the inevitability of all-out war. They are literally a ticking time bomb.
