  1. Puerto Rico is a shit project. All statehood means is they receive more federal funding and taxpayer dollars. Most people that talk about Puerto Rican statehood have never actually been there. It's not a place you'd want to consider the United States.

  3. This is true I'm afraid. Frame of reference is very important when discussing any matter, but this one in particular. Ask an Irish New Yorker if they want Puerto Rico to be a state and they'd laugh at you. They actually live amongst Puerto Ricans and know what type of political sentiments they tend to hold.

  4. In 2014, 93.64 percent of the total population of Puerto Rico was living in urban areas. Grow a brain. The majority of people live in cities now and vote Leftist. Look at an electoral map of any state... blue herp sores in every major population area.

  6. Jitterzz every one one of those new "states" will be assigned at least one vote for the electoral college. Non-whites vote 3:1 Democrat in the U.S. and most of these new states would be majority non-White and Leftist. All your proposal would do would be to add blue states that want government handouts and federal funding to build up their crumbling infrastructure. p.s. we're 20 trillion in debt already.

  8. Respectfully, I don't need a poignant lecture about Puerto Ricans in the military or veterans, especially if you have never served. I served with several Puerto Ricans, and the ones that join the military are a lot like any other Hispanic that joins the military. They do it because it is their best option and they want veterans benefits and healthcare for their family etc. Of course they also want to serve their country, and many are there to prove themselves as Americans. But also consider that there is this hero fallacy surrounding veterans and military as if all of them risk their lives day in and day out. In reality, it takes 10 support personnel to put one pair of boots on the ground. Regardless, the Puerto Ricans I served with considered themselves Americans, and they were one of the few exceptions. Nevertheless, I don't care what anyone says, national and cultural identity matters, and most Puerto Ricans don't identify as Americans first and foremost. Citizenship means shit all to me. There are imbedded terrorists bent on destroying the United States that are American citizens. Hispanics that join the military obviously aren't the grievance mongering ingrates waving foreign flags at anti-Trump rallies demanding free healthcare and open borders. But they are the exception, not the majority, and the reality is that Latinos as a whole vote 4:1 Democrat and the more Latinos we have involved in our voting process, the more Leftist votes will be cast, and the more our country becomes a socialist Hell project.

  9. I agree, but I think if they vote for independence their citizenship needs to be revoked. You can't let the ones that want to stay U.S. citizens all migrate to the U.S. if they become an independent nation. That would be a mass exodus and disastrous to both the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The government would probably be cucks though and instead give them dual citizenship or a period of time to immigrate to the U.S. and retain their citizenship. Something like that.

  14. lou Albino even if they become a citizen of another newly formed sovereign nation? What would you propose? Dual citizenship? Then they would all be able to leave PR when the new government fails. I'm just trying to think of how it could work any other way.

  15. lou Albino if they become PR citizens, their citizenship would be dissolved then? Don't you think that would cause a mass exodus if they were given the choice? An independent PR would become decline into Third World status rather swiftly. I think a lot of Puerto Ricans know that and would immigrate en masse, leaving the newly formed country when worse off. Can we at least agree on that?
