Madawc of Arreat who said I'm not firmly against Christianity? Only you, and you clearly didn't read my earlier posts. Also, if you don't care about the discussions being made here, you wouldn't be here commenting.
Let me explain this to you using a metaphorical analogy you might be able to understand:
Hitler was vehemently opposed to Marxism and Jewry, and so by default, the Soviet Union. However, Ribbentrop and Molotov signed a non-aggression pact. Why? As Hitler stated "we will walk part of the road with the Russians, if that will help us." Hitler of course ended up attacking the USSR, because his convictions did not waver, he was only making a strategic maneuver.
Other examples:
*the U.S. supporting the Afghan Mujahideen and various dictators in the Cold War.
*Chinese communists and nationalists uniting to fight the Japanese in the Second Sino-Japanese War.
There is some merit in the lesser of two evils theory. If the U.S. was invaded by a foreign country during the Civil War, do you think the Union and Confederacy would continue fighting each other? Not likely.
Using this "with me or against me" doctrine is just a way to demonize those that are intelligent enough to strategically identify and fight the more immediate and dangerous of threats, instead of facing all of your enemies at once and being destroyed i.e. "picking and choosing battles." It is not conclusive evidence of a lack of conviction.
