  1. They only hate laws that get in the way of their agenda. Otherwise they love them. CA creates a law every day it seems. They would love to revise the 1st and 2nd amendment, because it would empower them. But then watch them REEEEE and chameleon into a constitutionalist when anyone starts talking about the 14th and revising birthright citizenship, which they know would alter demographic shifts and threaten their power. It is all about power for them; authoritarians are obsessed with power. They want activism at all levels of the governmental process. Anything that helps them win and maintain control, they will support. They will use the federal government as a weapon when it behooves them and they will turn around and defy the supremacy clause whenever it behooves them as well. They are moralist authoritarians. They take no issue contradicting themselves, because they lack honor. Any tyranny or double standard is warranted if it means they can advance their dogma and maintain power.

  2.  @Doxymeister  They are both members of a cult which is authoritarian in nature; the only main difference is that one is secular and one is religious. "Progressivism" is just doublespeak for Marxism and Marxist doctrine demands ideological conformity. That is why organized religion is banned in Marxist societies: because Marxist ideology cannot exist in unison with any other ideology. They will gulag you, socially shame you, and/or excommunicate you for blasphemy, which includes exposing inherent hypocrisies, just like religious zealots did/do. Example: the Left can see very well that Islam is diametrically opposed (and even an existential threat) to many of the "marginalized" groups they claim to protect, not to mention the very civilization that protects them, but it can't be, so it isn't, tra la la la la. And so you see, Marxists also possess the same type of cognitive dissonance usually seen in religious people; when reality can't be squared with their dogma, they end up believing both and seeing no contradiction. The Left is essentially a secular cult.
