  2. @Henrik G Most Northern and Western Europeans are broadly Germano-Celtic. Southern Germanic genetics seem to be very similar; it appears that geneticists have difficulties telling the difference between genes like Dutch, Swiss, German etc., but the Northern Germanic (Scandinavian) genes still seem very distinct. I've had some contradictory results in the three DNA tests I've had done, but they've all broadly concluded that I'm 65-85% Scandinavian with the remainder being Southern Germanic and Celtic from the British Isles. Also a very small percentage of very old "broadly European" genetics. My paternal haplogroup is R-M269. :)
