  1. While I’m a supporter of Irish unity and no fan of our imperialist past there’s a staggering amount of mawkish shite talked about Irish history. The Irish paramilitary campaign failed because the Irish were constantly stabbing each other in the back. The counter insurgence intelligence (utterly ruthless bastards I might say) constantly turned ira and inla with blackmail and often good old fashioned greed and financial gain. Irishmen have killed far more Irishmen than anyone else. As for US support, my own experience was awful. Nothing short of utter ignorance from any one I spoke to. Shouting threats and falsehoods at me without even trying to understand that I was actually sympathetic and knowledgable.
