Disease was the primary factor permitting the conquest of the Americas. However, in China and India and other populous areas, the Europeans were also successful, so... European technology was vastly superior to the native Americans, Horses were the most decisive factor, more so, than gun powder and steel. Also, Europeans had much better military tactics and strategies than anyone else in the world from the modern age forward. Only the Ottomans were able to keep up until 1700 but after they fell far behind.
