@jansammut9557 You have an apples and oranges comparison when comparing circumcision and FGM. The wholesale removal of the clitoris is vastly different than that of the foreskin. So, that's the first issue with your argument. Circumcision is generally performed when a boy is only a few days old. They have no memory of the event. Once a male is older, getting circumcised becomes practically more difficult, at least in the healing process. I personally favor circumcision and currently there are techniques used that limit the pain drastically, i.e. the dorsal penile nerve block, ring block, or EMLA methods; all of which control pain very well during circumcision in newborns; the ring block perhaps working the best.

@jansammut9557 nope not equal at all. The male who is circumcised ends up no worse off while the same cannot be said of females who undergo FGM.

@jansammut9557 First, there is no mutilation. Cutting away the foreskin does not mutilate the penis. Second, I no of no doctors which would equate FGM with circumcision and I have one in my direct family. FGM removes the clitoris, it is done much later in life than circumcision, in general and is not done for religious reasons but to keep females from becoming overly sexual and under the control of men, by denying them sexual pleasure. None of this is the case with the removal of the foreskin. You are conflating very different practices. Also male circumcision can be performed with almost no pain for the new born by using various newer techniques. Banning of the practice would only be logical in a world which also banned tattooing, body piercing, trans sexual operations, breast augmentation, plastic surgery for aesthetic purposes etc....
