With respect, you don't understand the world if you think the war in Ukraine and many elsewhere, have nothing to do with us. Retreating behind our oceans, will not help the US but only embolden bad actors everywhere, which will destabilize the world economy, energy supplies, allies, international trade and markets and eventually the US will be forced to intervene but likely against forces far stronger than they would have been, if the US had not withdrawn in the first place.
You only need look at what happens when the US withdraws, such as in Iraq and Afghanistan, previously in Vietnam, etc...to see that the power vacuum is always filled by enemies of the USA. Short term thinking is almost always emotionally based and not well thought out. Best to look further down the road and imagine the consequences.

Carlson is so lost. He warps everything being said and expects viewers to ignore the obvious falsity of his claims. Zelensky demanded nothing. He was very humble and appreciative and hopes to continue to get US aid. Is this unreasonable? This is how the US was founded, and similarly we kept our luminaries, Franklin and Jefferson in Paris throughout the Revolution to continue to solicit the French King for arms, uniforms and money, without which we would have lost the war.
Further, Tucker is just short sighted. Does he believe a victorious Russia under Putin will not continue its aggressions, elsewhere? What impact would that have on Europe? What are the Chinese learning from Ukraine? If we had not aided the Ukrainians and the country had been swiftly conquered, what lessons would China have learned v. Taiwan or other potential adversaries?
Also, the petty insults about Zelensky's clothes is so weak. Zelensky dresses this way deliberately, to remind his people that he is with the soldiers and to remind the world of the existential threat his country is facing. Carlson simply comes across as clueless or childish with such commentary.
It is truly disgusting to see Carlson be so disingenuous in his dialogue and analysis. If he insists on being against aid to Ukraine, there is no need for lying. He also ought to acquaint himself with grand strategy, the history of Russia and the consequences of inaction in the face of aggression by potential, near pear enemies of the US.

@Ze TheGame My hell, you are completely devoid of actual understanding of US interests and what is and is not important.
Eastern Europe is absolutely important to the US. Our NATO allies such as Poland, Romania and the Baltic nations are all right there and all of these were formerly a part of the Soviet empire and therefore vulnerable to Russian aggression and designs.
If Putin succeeds in Poland, he will no doubt attempt to undermine the above nations, perhaps using his little green men ploy as in Donbas and Luhansk, with the Baltic States and create a crisis in NATO.
He could also invade Moldova and further threaten Romania.
Given the state of affairs in Germany and the rest of Europe, all of this is extremely troublesome and we 100% have an interest to keep Russia at bay.
Russia has thermonuclear weapons, that can obliterate the USA. Do you not know this?
Turkey is also a NATO member. An attack on one is an attack on all. That means the USA. Do you get it now?
Trade with Western Europe far surpasses that with Saudi Arabia or Taiwan. Why you would choose these two over our long time allies is simply incomprehensible. Canada is also a member of NATO btw.
Renouncing our article 5 responsibilities, would make the US a hiss and a byword worldwide. No one would ever trust us again. Also in the event of a Russian attack on a NATO member, if we did nothing, the Russians could sweep back into Europe and gobble up a great deal, making them vastly more powerful.
If you think the US can simply hide from these realities, your are amazingly ignorant and naive. Naked aggression only grows if left unchecked and with numerous anti American forces already in the world, ready to pounce, a renewed Russia is not to be taken lightly.
You need to rethink your entire world view.

Carlson always comes off as unhinged and intellectually dishonest, whenever he discusses Ukraine or any potential US conflict. He deliberately misrepresents language, makes assertions that are not borne out by policy or advocated by politicians and attempts to connect the dots, when it is entirely inappropriate to do so.
His initial assertions about secret peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in April, are a perfect example of this. There is no evidence the Biden admin. squashed these talks or an agreement and the reporting on these, demonstrates that Russia rejected peace by itself, which makes sense, since Russia invaded Ukraine in an attempt to conquer the country.

Boris Johnson does not represent the USA. What a ridiculous assertion. Where did Tucker come up with this?
Johnson's visit followed a trip by European Union leaders to Ukraine on Friday. Because Britain is no longer a member of the E.U., Johnson has made a coordinated but separate effort to show support for Ukraine.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer also visited Kyiv on Saturday and met with Zelensky, pledging to help alleviate the suffering of Ukrainians.
The one-day trip by the Austrian leader was expected to include a visit the suburb of Bucha, where hundreds of civilians were found slain after Russian troops withdrew.
Last month, the leaders of Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic made a bold joint visit to Ukraine's capital while it was under attack to pledge "unequivocal support" to Ukraine.
Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission...On Friday...traveled to the Ukrainian town of Bucha, where retreating Russian soldiers are accused of killing dozens of civilians. She condemned the killings and promised to try to speed Ukraine’s efforts to become a member of the European Union.
Also, a German recession, did not cause a recession in the USA. This statement is completely ignorant or just a lie. German trade with the US is a tiny percentage of our GDP and nothing happening in Germany, is going to cause a recession in the US. The US recession derived from poor economic policies engaged in by the Biden admin., China going into prolonged lockdown, the effects of Covid, the Great Resignation, etc...
Neither the US nor UK want total war with Russia and neither are demanding regime change either. Tucker is just a loon on this subject.

It's not a fealty to war. The US is not at war, so that is an assertion without merit. Also, arming a nation attacked by Russia, is what we did from 1946-1991, all over the globe, this is no different save Russia is vastly weaker than the USSR. Also, if the US simply stops the aid, Ukraine will likely crumble, there will be nothing to stop the Russians from just taking the country. It's similar to what we observed in Iraq and Afghanistan and previously in Vietnam. A sudden pullout creates a vacuum which is filled by hostile actors. In this case not giving weapons and support. This move would also not be popular with our NATO allies and would sow further distrust around the world about US reliability.
No one is playing games with anyone's life. You are spouting hyperbole. The US does not control Ukraine, nor Russia. The war will continue if we stop helping Ukraine but the bad guys will win and that does not help the US.
I would urge you to rethink your views on US foreign policy, perhaps review some American history, especially between 1918-1941 and then during the Cold War.

The argument for providing and supplying Ukraine with money and weapons is fairly straight forward. Defeating Russia in Ukraine will set back aggression, not only from Russia, but worldwide. If Russia succeeds, Ukraine will not be the last nation attacked by Russia. Likely Moldova and then the Baltic States will be next as potential victims. Also, China will likely be emboldened regarding aims against Taiwan, its islands in the S. China sea and other aggressions. Iran, too would probably see a Russian victory as a sign of US weakness and that of the West and continue its provocations in Yemen, Iraq, Syria etc...
It is important in Ukraine to keep the fight there, bloody the Russians badly and then make Ukraine a military bulwark against Russia.
You cannot operate foreign policy from a position of fear. If Russia uses a nuke, it is game over. The argument what if Russia uses a nuke, is always present and if taken at face value, would paralyze US foreign policy and would have done so, during the Cold War had we followed this line of thinking. Reagan's rollback approach v. the USSR was criticized exactly for the reasons M. Paul is outlining. Again, you cannot operate a foreign policy from a position of fear.

I watched this yesterday, sitting in Utah and became more and more annoyed as it went along. Cox has done good things in the State but the examples given in the above report, are so disturbing and yet another example, of Republican men Romney, former AZ Senator Flake and others among them, who though Conservative, are Uber empathetic. This hyper emotionalism seems to blind them to common sense and keeps them from guarding deeper, fundamental principles and with the Trans issue, from confronting basic reality.
Romney will be primaried and likely lose his seat, if he does not resign before then. Cox also, needs to be ousted, if he continues on this path. I don't know how Utah, an extremely conservative state, continues to elect political representatives who are socially quite Left. This is all very concerning.
It needs to end.

Why Carlson continually lies about Zelensky is beyond bizarre. He demanded nothing, he was absolutely humble and sincere in his address, repeatedly thanking the US for the aid and his clothes are meant to convey a message. His country was invaded by a vastly superior force and yet it survives. He wears clothes which resemble those worn by the troops who he commands. In front of the US Congress or foreign nations, his clothes reinforce the existential threat his country faces. Certainly Carlson, knows this and yet he continually personally attacks Zelensky, why? Did he do something wrong here? Ought he not seek military support to fight back against the Russians? Tucker is either a complete coward, delusional or so mired in his own fame, he cannot recognize reality for what it is. He should be ashamed at the barrage of insults and outright lies he his speaking regarding Zelensky and Ukraine.
Regarding ending Putin's hold on power is a better point and one that definitely needs to be thought through. Lindsey Graham only voiced what he sees as reality; a truce plays only to Russia's strengths and likely would simply mean a replication of the invasion, once Russia has regrouped, rearmed and remobilized. Putin also has far too much at stake to simply walk away, so regime change is probably the only way the war will end, short of a military revolt.
Zelensky is no Churchill, but he has demonstrated great personal courage and tremendous leadership, which have inspired his nation and troops.

I watch these Tucker rants of disingenuous slanders, with disgust and sadness. It is truly unfortunate that this man sinks so low every time he reports on Ukraine or anything resembling US military involvement overseas. He has lost all objective reasoning. For example, when he charges that 'they' want to send your kids to war, is simply a lie. No one is advocating for direct US military engagement with Russia and yet Carlson continually spouts this nonsense. When he alleges that Zelensky is corrupt but gives zero examples and merely hints that unspecified money is somehow missing and therefore...this is also slander. Also, knowing Ukraine is involved in a full-on conventional war, in which thousands of artillery rounds are used in a single day and tens of thousands of troops engaged, it is bizarre to ask where are the munitions going? All one need do is look at what the Russians are expending in their efforts, which seemed to have drained their supposed inexhaustible stocks as well. And then there is the talk of nuclear war. Where does that come from? Is there a greater chance of a nuclear exchange now than at any time during the Cold War, when nuclear weapons were 10x as numerous and conventional armies also, vastly larger? Carlson is simply terrified and is reacting from this emotion. Not good.
McGregor is a fool. His analysis is likewise laughable and he has no gravitas on these subjects. When McGregor states that Russia was forced into invading Ukraine, you must wonder what drug he is on. Ukraine was not on the verge of entering either NATO nor the EU. Not at all. The invasion had nothing to do with this potentiality in the far future. Read Putin's speeches justifying the invasion, they are not about either organization but his belief that Ukraine is an integral part of Russia and therefore should be directly under Moscow's control. McGregor is simply spouting Russian propaganda and it is amazing a former Army Col. could be so naive and ignorant simultaneously.

Tucker's guilt over Iraq has unbalanced him and his ability to objectively analyze foreign policy. His go to position, is isolationism, which is extremely foolish and short sighted.
The question posed using the 'Dan Crenshaw Argument' is not addressed head on by Tucker. Russia/USSR has been the biggest and most persistent threat to the US and Western civ. since WWII. The Russians are the only power capable of destroying the USA, not China or anyone else. So, Tucker focusing on China is ignorant. Also, Russia does not have to be the main rival of the US, to justify American intervention. The USA stands for liberty and the overt belligerence of one nation against another in an area that is very sensitive to US interests and those of our allies, certainly merits attention. Also, given Russian aggression since Putin took power, if unchecked, it is very likely he would persist and his next targets would likely be the Baltic States, i.e., NATO members. So, acting now, to stop the proverbial dominoes is wise.
Putin is not mad. There is zero evidence for this assertion. Even so, he is not suicidal. Not even Stalin, who actually became insane and was definitely pathological and a sociopath, did not wish to die engulfed in a mushroom cloud. So, when he speaks of nukes, you can instantly cower to his blackmail and or stand up. This is what we did through the entirety of the Cold War, when the power and number of nuclear arsenals was vastly greater than today, with more than 60,000 nukes possessed by both sides. Now each has less than 2000.
So, to create an alliance with Russia would mean sacrificing all of Eastern Europe back under Russian dominance or a resurrection of the old empire. Is this what Carlson is suggesting? Trump was very friendly with Putin but even so, the Russians continued to test boundaries. Russian interests under Putin simply do not align with that of the West. Pretending otherwise, is naive and dangerous. Tucker does not understand Russia, history or cogent foreign policy. His views are solidly based in fear/cowardice/shame and none of these are useful.

@trae4529 Russia and China are not aligned currently, though they were in the past, in 1949, When Mao seized control of China, the USSR fully supported China, however, very quickly thereafter the two nations began fighting and broke with one another. Why? Because the interests of China and Russia are not aligned.
So, you may see some kind of photo ops between the two leaders, you may have some kind of economic deals worked out between them but these are not substantive and are mostly propaganda at this point. China and Russia do not trust each other and never have.
Also, China cannot really help Russia out of its current dilemma. It cannot buy the Russian oil, because the infrastructure is not in place to ship it to China and the only ports available are far in the West. Cargo ships will not haul Russian crude that is being embargoed, no one will ensure it and it simply can't be done.
I'm not sure about your referencing the Cold War. What is happening in Ukraine is nothing like the Cold War. This is brute aggression, plain and simple. It is not in the interests of the US to ignore the Russian invasion and we need to supply the Ukrainians with weapons, to make the aggression as painful as possible for the Russians.
In this way, Russia may be forced to retreat and or make peace. Failing that, if Ukraine were simply to take over Ukraine, you could anticipate further Russian aggressions, against Moldova and likely the Baltic States, Romania or Poland, which are NATO members.
Aggression begets more aggression; this is one of the great lessons of history. It must be opposed or it grows and when finally confronted the costs are always exponentially higher.

I think Vivek is the best candidate in the field but Haley is correct about Ukraine and US foreign policy in general. If Russia is not badly bloodied in Ukraine, all authoritarian states will be emboldened. Rewarding Russian aggression will at best create a pause, which will allow the Russians time to regroup, retrain, rearm and be ready to blitz Ukraine next time. It is naive to believe differently. The aid we give Ukraine weakens Russia, keeps further adventurism at bay and is wakening up the world to the real threats everywhere. Allowing Russia to consume Ukraine, is a very bad decision, which will encourage more expansions, 'little, green men' and the destabilizing of Europe and the 'Near Abroad', as Russia terms it.
Vivek's Taiwan policy is good. Strategic clarity, which puts down a bright, red line and also puts Taiwan on notice, that it must take care of its own defense primarily in the future, i.e. stop spending 2% of GDP on Defense and start committing so much wealth to protection of the island, that China would have to be insane to attempt an invasion.
