Currently, there is no military industrial complex. You don't understand your history nor the current American situation. Eisenhower's policy ignored the actual threat of the USSR, which grew exponentially under his predecessors until the Soviets held not only a huge advantage in conventional arms but in nuclear weapons as well. Eisenhower's failure to support the French at Dienbienphu, doomed that battle to failure and ensured that Ho and the communists would take the North, which led to the American direct deployment and the Vietnam war. Eisenhower's condemnation of the British, French, Israeli capture of the Suez Canal, humiliated our allies, empowered an Egyptian dictator, rewarded his closing of the canal and led directly to the 67 War and then the 73 War. Eisenhower was a diplomat not a great general or strategist and he demonstrated this as president as well. His policies were very shortsighted and were only tolerable due to the massive preponderance of wealth the US enjoyed rebuilding the world, post WWII and a near monopoly on nuclear tech and power. His is/was not good advice.
Reagan's policies, ended the Cold War and the USSR.
