  1.  @jmacdonald6195  that is true but only if you go back more than 500 years. Also the Golden Age of Islam is a subject filled with myth and propaganda, though Islamic states were militarily powerful and as advanced as others until the 15th century, the golden age stuff is a bit over played. Further, why compare the height of one civilization with the depth of another? The idea that the values and culture of a society are directly applicable to its success seems undeniable. And if we assume that Canada could be overwhelmed by immigrants with very different values and culture than what has made Canada prosperous, mass migration could indeed be very dangerous for the Canucks. I’m not sure if China has ever had a golden age. Though you hear of the Tang or Song, I’m not sure if the term is appropriate. China has been historically, technically advanced, militarily strong and economically rich, it was simultaneously mired in mass poverty etc…
