We don't hear about it because of people's obsession with South Korea and Japan, the fetishisation of Koreans and Japanese and idolisation of Korean and Japanese pop culture. While some white girl in the US fetishises Korean men, Korean women in South Korea are suffering.

Terrible to see and I feel sorry for them because the Rohingyas once had Burmese citizenship and Rohingya politicians had been voted into parliament (such as Rohingya activist Wai Wai Nu's father). That all changed with the ascension of the Tatmadaw to power. What must be noted is that all Asian countries, doesn't matter if rich or poor, are reluctant in accepting refugees and many have not signed the 1951 Refugee Convention. Bangladesh was kind to provide them housing for 5 years and India, Thailand and others in the region also accepted refugees but for the case of India (and others), government policies do not support the permanent resettlement of refugees. Asia has helped its own in times of need, the Indochina refugee crisis, the Rohingya genocide, persecution of minorities in various Asian countries but permanent resettlement is not often on the cards and if there are any opportunities of permanent resettlement (e.g. Japan's decision to accept Indochina refugees or give asylum to select numbers of Rohingyas), there is a meticulous procedure and most do not, unfortunately, get asylum.

  3.  @nilnil12345  No it's not. There are many Muslims living in Myanmar without any issue like Kaman and Bamar Muslims. The issue is hat the Tatmadaw wants everybody to be Burmanised, which is why so many ethnic groups have been targeted, including ones who practice Buddhism like the Shan.

  5. The Tatmadaw has wrecked havoc in Myanmar by persecuting minority groups, including Rohingyas, Shan, Kachin, Karen and Rakhine among many others. It also staged a coup in 2021 which became a wake up call for many Bamar people who suddenly understood and now sympathise with minority groups like the Rohingyas. The Rohingya genocide led to the largest movement of people in the Asia-Pacific in 2017 since the Vietnam War when more than 1 million Rohingyas migrated to Bangladesh, India, Thailand and other parts of South and Southeast Asia. While Myanmar and its diaspora continues to suffer, there are certain countries in the Asian region (China, India, Japan, Singapore) that refuse to criticise and cut ties with the Tatmadaw. There is only one Asian nation that has been the most vocal against not only the genocide but also the 2021 coup, that is Indonesia.

  9. I find it very interesting how, that despite being so heavily persecuted and facing genocide, they still identify as "Burmese". It's different to other marginalised communities how like many Sri Lankan Tamils outside of Sri Lanka identify as "Tamil" instead of "Sri Lankan" or the Malaysian Chinese who choose to identify as "Chinese" instead of "Malaysian". In this video, they are learning Burmese and singing the national anthem of Myanmar despite being terrorised by the Tatmadaw and stripped off their citizenship and status as a native Myanmar ethnic group in the 1970s. There is an Australian suburb with an Asian-majority suburb that is home to ethnic Chinese and Southeast Asians (including a large Rohingya population (and other Burmese Muslims)). The Rohingyas all identify as "Burmese" and own Burmese restaurants, bubble tea shops and businesses that are identified as "Burmese". The Vietnamese clothing vendors that cater towards the main Asian groups in the suburb (Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian and Burmese/Rohingya) include a section dedicated to the Rohingyas selling Burmese-style hijabs.

  14. Myanmar needs to ban these organisations too. Right wing extremists in both Sri Lanka and Myanmar are very close to one another, always have been. They fuel each other. I still remember Miss Universe Myanmar 2017 using social media to ask Sri Lankans to support Burmese people against Rohingya "terrorists" in Rakhine State before she was stripped off her title for what she said. The good thing is that the young generation in Myanmar recognises the importance of equality and acceptance.

All of the 1 million+ Rohingyas went to other Asian countries, including Muslim-majority Bangladesh and some to Malaysia and Indonesia too (two other Muslim-majority nations). They must think "Muslim countries" = Arabic-speaking nations only or something because idk why they would say such a thing if they've been following the news.

  24.  @christopheichmann1308  The UAE is also composed mostly of foreigners. The vast majority of people in the UAE are foreign workers or expats from other parts of Asia, Africa and the West. Most of the local UAE citizens don't work, they rely on foreigners to do most of the work and power their economy for them. So they really have no choice but to accept other religions because without these people from other parts of the world, they wouldn't survive.

The top 25 countries in the world with the highest fertility rates are all in Sub-Saharan Africa. Only the North African nations as well as island nations like Mauritius and Seychelles have low fertility rates.

The late prime minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, called it "Asian values". People know their actions don't just reflect on or affect them but on the community as a whole.
