I mean I can understand why someone in India may feel that way. English was adopted out of a necessity due to the sheer ethnic diversity and it came with colonisation. Japan's relationship with English has no nationalist undertones

@Brave_Pirate The way people are trying to justify this is concerning. Singapore is a neutral nation unlike his nation of Japan which is literally a US ally.

@Brave_Pirate No it is not common worldwide and that man is Japanese, he should be knowledgeable about Asia at the least. Singapore is well known as the "Switzerland of Asia" because it has pursued geopolitical neutrality since its independence. It is not an ally of the US.

@Brave_Pirate It's very concerning that that Japanese male thought Singapore, a well known Asian nation, is located near the US, a non-Asian nation. Singapore and the US couldn't be more different from one another. The only thing they have in common is that they both speak English as a first language and both are democracies, the similarities end there.
