His character and the character of Ali provided a good way to showcase the treatment of South and Southeast Asian migrant workers in the whole of Asia and not just Korea. I've already seen discourse emerge on the internet about the treatment of South and Southeast Asian migrant workers in Singapore, Malaysia and the Maldives (three countries that house a lot of SA and SEA migrant workers who are exploited quite severely). The important thing is that actual Singaporeans, Malaysians and Maldivians were the ones starting these discussions. I also remember coming across comments on Korean forums (using Google translate) where Koreans were talking about the hypocrisy of calling out anti-Asian violence in the US but failing to recognise that South and Southeast Asian migrant workers were being mistreated in Korea. I think this drama has reinforced these emerging discussions and it's made people more aware of reality regarding this issue.

@markpetters9064 Calm down haha, he can pass in north-eastern South Asia (especially Austro-Asiatic Indians). South Asians don't all look the same.

@life_is_a_myth To be fair, it's much more than just the genre. The drama is an allegory of modern Korean society and how inequality and the hypercapitalist system of this era has affected vulnerable lives within Korea.

@life_is_a_myth Yep you're right but I guess what I meant to say is that this genre was used to discuss the reality of inequality and South Korea's debt crisis.
