  5. Sri Lanka has three historic allies: India, China and Japan. In the modern era, all three of these countries wield economic, political and cultural influence over Sri Lanka. It is these three countries that have invested in the country and provided loans to the country among other things. However the economic crisis in Sri Lanka is not connected to these three countries, it's the result of the Rajapaksas and their economic mismanagement and for stealing so much money from the people.

  6. You have to took at it from the perspective of these countries though. Large parts of Asia, especially coastal areas, face threats from climate change so sustainability is very important to the people of these countries. The issue with Sri Lanka's fertiliser ban is that the government banned it without any warning to farmers and did not import the necessary ingredients to produce organic fertiliser within the country. So after there were protests from the farmers, the government revoked the ban but farmers had lost money and could not acquire chemical fertilisers destroying the crops they had grown.

  7. The ban on chemical fertilisers would've worked if the government genuinely cared about the environment and its people. They should have phased out chemical fertilisers like you would do with anything else but the government banned it in one go which is an incredibly detrimental thing to do.

Aren't you the ones decrying the invasion of Ukraine by Russia but now you're asking for a big country to take over a small country? 🤦‍♂
