I've noticed that in ex-colonies where they want to get rid of the colonial heritage by renaming cities, regions and other geographical markers, there is always friction and a constant "living in the past" with resentment and consequently, no progress is made. In the areas where they have accepted their history and embraced it, the people are more happy and peaceful.

@Lightscribe225 The British never tried to erase India's heritage. I never understand this argument that y'all make. If that were the case, India would be like the Philippines where its entire indigenous heritage has been almost wiped out and people have no idea of their country's past. The Spanish did that, not the British. I think it's time India looks at places like Goa, Pondicherry and Singapore and see how they've accepted their past without the need to make drastic changes.

@Lightscribe225 Yeah that's what I'm saying. The British never tried to erase India's heritage but for some reason people want to erase their colonial heritage instead of just accepting it for what it is and moving on like Pondicherry, Goa, Macau or Singapore.
