Saiha Homura What has the Sri Lankan community got to do with this??? Most Sri Lankans in New Zealand are Buddhists, that man was a Muslim. Since when are Buddhists and Muslims the same?? Muslims only make up 4% of the total Sri Lankan New Zealand community. He was radicalised by his Iraqi and Syrian neighbours. Think before you reply.

@jayseaandfriends Who is asking for an apology from the NZ government??? Stop putting words into people's mouths. 💀 If you're talking about the OP, they literally asked why the NZ government didn't describe the attacker as an Islamic terrorist, which is what he was. How is that not clear to you??? Some people on the internet are so...

svarge What don't you understand about the OP's comment?? They're asking why Arden never publicly said that the terrorist was an Islamic terrorist and they have a point.

@jacoblee5546 What on earth has the OP got to do with September 11 and racist? What part of their comment indicates racism?

svarge Well his point doesn't make sense if he's talking only about New Zealand and most of the West but if he's talking about certain Western countries (e.g. the US), he has a point (not that anybody all the way in the US is going to care because it doesn't affect them). The reason why I say this is because people who aren't from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK and much of the EU know nothing about Sri Lanka. For example, Americans know nothing about Sri Lanka and it was evident in 2019 when the top Google search was "Where is Sri Lanka?" after the Easter Sunday attacks. White and Maori New Zealanders are well informed about the world around them so people knew straight away that this was an Islamic extremist from a minority ethnic group in Sri Lanka because most New Zealanders, know that Sri Lanka is a Buddhist majority country. Not to mention that Sri Lanka is a popular tourist destination in the Asia-Pacific and that Dilmah (a Sri Lankan tea brand) has regularly been voted the most trusted tea brand in New Zealand.

Saiha Homura I'm focusing on your initial comment. Sri Lankan Buddhists, Christians or Hindus don't know who he is and to blame them is incorrect. That's like blaming the White American community in the US for the actions of a White man who shot up a school. Also, I said that he was radicalised by his Iraqi and Syrian neighbours, something that can't be ignored.

Saiha Homura I'm guessing you aren't aware of who Sri Lankan people are. You saw that the terrorist was a Sri Lankan national and assumed everybody who is Sri Lankan is a Muslim when in reality the majority are actually Buddhists and the second largest group are Hindus and that Muslims are only a minority who speak a different language to the majority and practice a different culture.

@jayseaandfriends Why are you liking your own comments? It literally says 1 minute ago and there's a like, I wasn't born yesterday. Did you read the entirety of the OP's comment? Arden's comments mean nothing because it was done by an individual representing a religion. The OP clearly asks at the end of his comment why Arden didn't mention the religion that the man belonged to, when the attack was done in the name of religion. No, you're just making stuff up at this point. Pointing out the inccurate statement made by Arden is not demanding an apology. Where is this coming from? Are you aware of the fact that most Sri Lankans are Buddhists? Look at the people attacking the OPor liking comments in agreement, I'm guessing none of them know anything about Sri Lanka and assume once again it's "Muslims playing the victim" when it's not.
3
@jacoblee5546 The OP is a Buddhist...where's the correlation? Speaks about 9/11 when it has nothing to do with the OP's comment? Knows nothing about the world around them? Assumes OP is a Muslim? Extremely uninformed? Must be an American. Tell me you're an American without telling me you're an American.

@danish6192 "Indian countries"???? Do you know any basic geography? There is no such thing called "Indian countries". Gosh, Google is right there use it!
1
@danish6192 So if it's an independent nation, how is it still a part of India? Your logic makes zero sense. There is no such thing called "Indian countries". I cringe when I see someone say something like that, it really shows how uninformed and ignorant they are. The moral of the story: stay in school or otherwise you end up like this.
1
@danish6192 Since when does the Indian subcontinent mean "Indian countries"? You keep digging a hole for yourself and you don't even realise it...
1
@danish6192 Do you know what the origin of the term "Indian subcontinent" is?
1
...because he claimed that he was being targeted by the Sri Lankan government because of his "political background" and because he's from a minority ethnic group. The NZ authorities believed him but sounds more like a lie. If you know about Sri Lankan history, you'll know that his story doesn't make sense. The only thing he said that is correct is that he's a Muslim and Muslims are a minority ethnic group in Sri Lanka.

@madjames1134 The Myanmar issue has nothing to do with Buddhism. It's due to WWII when Japan invaded Myanmar. Google is right there, use it!
1
He didn't come from an Islamic country Kevin. Not all Muslims come from Islamic countries, he's from a minority ethnic group within a Buddhist majority country. Gosh Google is right there, use it.

@jayseaandfriends Yeah...no but whatever makes you sleep at night. BTW, you can't like a comment 3 times so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Just make sure you get your facts straight before you speak, your silence on what I previously said speaks volumes.
