  2. It's strange of you to correlate this with cancel culture and enforce a purely American/Western-centric issue onto the rest of the world. Nobody cares about cancel culture in the countries where these objects were stolen from. They deserve to belong in museums in the countries of their origin. You wouldn't like if somebody stole something of yours. It's not fair to steal other countries' artefacts. Not to mention, that these objects are stolen from their countries' of origin and represent important aspects of these cultures but at the same time, certain Western countries will send Christian missionaries to remote areas of these countries, where these objects were stolen, in order to convert them to Christianity.

  6. So what about the Buddhist-influenced Asian countries? Shouldn't they be allowed to keep their heritage safe? Buddhism is an Asian religion after all. Japan, China, Sri Lanka and India all offered to purchase the Buddha statues from the Taliban, even offered ways to conceal them. In fact, Japan, China and Sri Lanka were the most strident advocates in protecting the statues, not the West.

  7. Also, let me add that it was the Shia Muslim Hazaras of Afghanistan that were looking after the Buddha statues before the Taliban came to power.
