I'm still waiting for India to improve its infrastructure, especially in the north, so I can finally visit it but I fear that I will have to wait a very long time before I finally get to experience India.

@carrad123456 Growth means nothing if Uttar Pradesh still looks like it's stuck in the 1940s. Why is there so much rubbish around India's iconic landmark, the Taj Mahal? It's actually putting people off from travelling there and that's not a good thing.

@carrad123456 I really hope by 2030 there will be drastic changes to the quality of life in India and things will get better. I think 2024 to 2030 is a good time frame to create significant changes that will help India finally achieve high income status by the 2050s. Your comment gives me hope, it tells me that there are people in India who recognise there are issues and that things need to be fixed.

@Right-Knight How on earth is that secularism? Secularism means to conduct affairs without the involvement of religion.

@blitzkrieg9925 Okay but compare the quality of life in China and that with India, quality of life in China is far greater and the poverty rate is much lower. 2022 data shows that India once again has the most poor people in the world at 83 million people living in extreme poverty, surpassing Nigeria which briefly held the title from 2018 to 2022. It's very easy to talk about stats but the ground image is very different. I used to have a lot of faith in India and hope that it would become a high income nation. I used to think Modi was the right leader for India but 10 years on, I don't think so. People seem more interested in trivial matters rather than developing the country. All I see are more Indian people continuously leaving India and migrating to Western nations while Chinese emigration slows. I wanted to visit India but that entire northern region seems like a very unsafe place. Maybe only Kerala and Sikkim are worth it, everywhere else absolutely not. The damage those viral videos on TikTok and Twitter have done to India's reputation overseas is catastrophic.

@blitzkrieg9925 How heartless can one be to care more about looking at percentages instead of absolute numbers? I mentioned absolute numbers because that is the reality. Percentages shouldn't matter, you should care more about making the lives of these people better in order to make India a high income country. This way of thinking is why India is still the way that it is. What is it going to take for it to change? I'm tired of waiting.

@blitzkrieg9925 Quality of life in China is not slightly better, it's a lot better and yeah maybe their one party government is why they're so successful in addition to their culture and their mentality. Yeah all of this talk of multi-ethnic states and things is why India seems better off breaking apart because I've taken note of the way some states are more developed than others. How is it that somewhere like Kerala is not having enough kids while a place like Bihar is struggling to bring fertility rates down. The breath of diversity in the country is extreme.

@blitzkrieg9925 You say all these things about China and yet that country's quality of life is so much better. I'm not crying or sulking, the fact that you think I am just shows me why India is NEVER going to change. I can't even point out the plethora of issues in the country without a nationalist getting upset at me. If India is so amazing, as you claim, why do Indian people keep leaving India and moving to my country? There are more Indians coming to my country than all but 1 country in the world. In the future, they will be #1. Due to this, people from lower socio-economic backgrounds are coming too and they're actually jeopardising the reputation of local born Indians here by doing unsavoury things like assaulting local born women. Now people are so racist to them as a result of the actions of some people.

@blitzkrieg9925 Every single year, I see men in India tell me that India is getting better. Where??? Stats don't mean anything if nothing changes on the ground. Tell me why are the streets of North Indian cities undeveloped? Why is infant morality still so high? Why are women being targeted? Why is the quality of street food so unhygienic? Why is there trash everywhere on the streets and around the Taj Mahal? Why is open defecation still an issue? What happened to Swachh Bharat?
1
@blitzkrieg9925 I don't know if you're aware but the reputation of India internationally is extremely poor. Last year was a turning point because hundreds of viral videos recorded by Indians and people who travelled to India went viral for the wrong reasons on TikTok and Twitter showcasing the quality of street food in the country, the streets of cities like Delhi as well as the Taj Mahal and videos of Indian and foreign women being harassed and stared at. Indian people say don't eat street food if you go to India and there are some saying don't go to the north. As a result, there is now a lot of racism towards Indians online. It's so bad. I want to visit India but everything I've seen so far just tells me it's not safe. I'm tired of waiting, how long am I going to wait until I can visit that country?

@Dateraho Nothing I said constitutes "blabbering". My gosh, I can't point out flaws without them scolding me. Why is India still such a poor country???? Why is there rubbish everywhere, why are men defecating on a beach and why are people using their feet and bare hands to make street food??? We are in 2024 and yet North India still looks like it's in the 1940s. I want to visit India but nobody promotes that country anymore as a safe destination. Seriously, what is going on??? I thought India is a remarkable nation that is developing at a quick pace but the viral videos on TikTok last year changed everybody's perspective of India last year and despite that, I still had faith in the country but yet again another video went viral this week and it put the nail through the coffin. I'm actually shocked. I used to have so much faith in this country and even did a project in school about how the "Rise of India" was important to the world.

@blitzkrieg9925 The quality of life in China is better because they are ruled by leaders that want to create a better life for their people.

@blitzkrieg9925 The GDP you're talking about does not directly translate to better quality of life. The only GDP that translates to better quality of life is national income. India's national income stands at $2,850. Those "folks" you speak of are not running my country. They're too busy committing crimes like scams and assault and jeopardising the reputation of local-born Indians. It's really quite sad because overseas, Indian people are viewed as hardworking and driven to succeed academically. When you have men from lower socio-economic backgrounds entering the country with this idea that women must obey them it creates an environment where that perception is ruined and I fear that it's already begun. Why? It's because Modi is too busy focusing on trivial matters rather than using the money India generates from its high economic growth rate every year to improve the quality of life and education in the country.

@RodrickColbert You are absolutely correct. It's an opulent house and nothing more. The poor still remain poor.

83 million people living in extreme poverty in India and this is what you care about?
1
@ankurantil6137 I know a lot about India but I still don't understand why nothing has changed. Why am I still seeing viral videos on TikTok from the streets of Delhi showing someone making naan with their feet and rubbish everywhere and a video of men on a beach defecating? Talking about Britain doesn't make much sense anymore because a lot of ex-colonies are doing much better now. I want India to become a high income developed nation but I don't think many people there care enough about changing the country anymore. I think nationalism has changed it.
1
No it doesn't. Maybe worry about the fact that the reputation of India and Indian people is at an all time low. You have no idea the type of damage those viral videos on TikTok and Twitter have done to the reputation of India. If you think this is criticism, you should see what's happening online and in Western countries.

@profitmuhammad3290 They're not random, there are hundreds of them and they show the exact same thing - almost all in some location of North India. It's the real world. To refuse to accept the reality is to deny the reality that there are issues that need to be solved.

@Desi_food1 You're focusing on the wrong things, there are much bigger fish to fry.
